What was originally a day off from school for local school children, has turned into a day off from school for everyone.

Suffolk Public Schools and Isle of Wight County Schools announced Sunday afternoon that all employees will not be asked to come in Monday as originally scheduled.

Monday had been a scheduled teachers’ work day for both systems.

In a release from Suffolk Public Schools, spokesperson Bethanne Bradshaw said the clerical day would not be made up.

Suffolk officials also said it remains to be seen if the schedule returns to normal Tuesday.

“At this time, no decision has been made about delays or opening on Tuesday,” Bradshaw said in the release.

In a separate release, Isle of Wight County School officials announced all offices would be closed Monday as well, but did not mention anything regarding Tuesday’s schedule.
