“It’s a time to get young professionals involved in the community and help them connect with experienced professionals,” said Sarah Kingsley Foley, coordinator of Sync.

If Sync757 doesn’t ring a bell, it’s because it began as the Young Professionals of Hampton Roads in 2005. After a program renovation, the group’s membership grew from a mere 150 last July to more than 400 now.

The group is now actively seeking to connect young professionals with one another and surrounding resources.

“Our members include everyone from small business owners to people in the arts,” Foley said. “We consider a young professional to be anyone who is goal oriented and looking to move forward in their career path.”

The program has four basic tenants – to connect, enrich, mentor and represent.

Connecting members helps young professionals “make contact with fellow young professionals at Sync757 social and networking events like spring and summer parties, Oktoberfest, sporting events and much more,” Sync’s Web site stated. “Sync757 members also receive free entry into all the Chamber’s monthly Business After Hours Events.”

Educational, development, regional cooperation and cultural awareness assist members is staying informed.

Sync also helps members “forge meaningful relationships with business and community leaders. From small group mentoring lunches to the Hot Topics/Cold Sandwiches series in every Southside Hampton Roads city, take advantage of established leaders’ knowledge and savvy.”

The Hampton Roads Chamber of Commerce also helps retain and recruit young talent for the region’s growth and vitality.

“It’s about meeting like minded people,” Foley said. “It’s a great way to meet other people that are like minded and get involved in the community.
