RICHMOND — The State Council of Higher Education for Virginia is partnering with the Virginia Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators to help college-bound Virginians receive free one-on-one assistance with completing the federal financial aid form.

Financial aid specialists will help new and returning students fill out the online Free Application for Federal Student Aid at 32 locations throughout the commonwealth on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. during the ninth annual Super Saturday event.

The Suffolk campus of Paul D. Camp Community College, located at 271 Kenyon Road, will be one of the participating sites. The coordinator there is Linda Stevenson, who can be reached at 925-6307 or lstevenson@pc.vccs.edu.

Each Super Saturday site will offer financial aid workshops and access to computers so that financial aid experts can help students electronically submit their FAFSA, initiating the financial aid application process and meeting the priority filing date for most Virginia colleges.

Two- and four-year colleges and universities and vocational schools across the country use the FAFSA to determine eligibility for student financial aid. Additionally, a $100 Book Scholarship will be awarded to one student at each Super Saturday location.

This event is open to parents and students of all grade levels, as well as adults interested in furthering their education. For a list of materials that students must bring to receive assistance filling out the FAFSA, visit the VASFAA website at http://www.vasfaa.org.

SCHEV is the commonwealth’s coordinating body for Virginia’s system of higher education, and is responsible for the certification of private and vocational schools. The agency provides policy guidance and budget recommendations to the governor and General Assembly, and is a resource for information on Virginia colleges and universities.
