A Suffolk woman pleaded guilty Friday to a string of bomb threats against Suffolk schools and Suffolk and Chesapeake businesses.

Remonia Yvonne Hines, 49, was charged with five counts of threatening to bomb Nansemond River High School and one count of threatening to bomb the Bridge Road Walgreens. She pleaded guilty to two counts against the high school and one count against the drugstore, prosecutor Jeff James said.

The threats covered a three-week period in the fall, beginning with the first threat on Sept. 25. Two of the threats against the high school were called to nearby Florence Bowser Elementary School; the other three were called to the main school administration offices. In the Walgreens threat, the woman called the store directly and spoke to a pharmacist, James said.

When interviewed by Suffolk fire marshals, Hines told them she threatened the high school because her daughter was having problems in school, and “decided to give her a break from school,” James said.

Asked why she called the pharmacy, she told fire marshals she simply called places for which she had telephone numbers.

Hines will be sentenced on May 13. She also has three bomb threat charges pending in Chesapeake.
