Sarah Green, a devoted mother, was called to rest on Feb. 23, 2010. She was predeceased by her husband, Elijah Green, and her daughter, Phyllis Diane Green.
She was born in Southampton County, Va., on Aug. 23, 1927 to the late Emmitt and Alice Mason. A product of the Southampton County School system, she continued her education at Norfolk State College, pursuing a degree in education.
She married the late Elijah Green on July 7, 1946, and together they raised eight children. She committed her life to her family, her church and her community.
She served faithfully as a missionary and Church Mother to Holy Trinity Church, Suffolk, Va., until she was called to rest.
Survivors include two sons, Willie (Barbara), James (Rose); five daughters, Mary Kindred, Paulette (James Barnes), Faith (Maynard Copeland), Elina Green, and Pamela (Michael Sessoms); one brother, Earl Mason; 11 grandchildren, and 19 great-grandchildren.
The celebration of life will be Feb. 27 at 3 p.m. Oak Grove Baptist Church
