A ribbon cutting and open house will be held today at the newest gymnastics facility in Suffolk.
World Class Gymnastics “Too,” located at 1000 Bowen Parkway in the Northgate Commons Building I, will hold a grand opening today at 4:30 p.m. for its 12,000 square-foot facility. Mayor Linda T. Johnson will help the school’s staff cut the ribbon, and the festivities also will include exhibitions by competitive team members in gymnastics.
World Class Gymnastics “Too” is owned and operated by Tami Harrison, who was a 10-time All-American gymnast at Cal-State Fullerton and reached the U.S. Olympic Trials in 1984. For the past 10 years, she has been the owner and primary coach of the original World Class Gymnastics in Newport News.
“I am honored to bring a National Training Center to Suffolk,” Harrison said in a press release. “World Class Gymnastics has a long history of producing state, regional and national champions. We also pride ourselves in having a program that provides opportunities for children who want to be introduced to the sport of gymnastics as well as providing a path for those who have bigger dreams. We want to be here for every child, whether they just like learning new gymnastics skills or have dreams of becoming an Olympian.”
The new Suffolk gym will offer classes for toddlers, preschoolers, recreational girls, cheer tumble and boys beginners, as well as birthday parties and open gyms each Friday night.
