If you’re flipping through Southern Living and run across a home you recognize, don’t be surprised.

Suffolk builders, Sasser Construction, was named 2010 Southern Living Custom Builder Member of the Year. The Sasser building team will be featured in Southern Living’s magazine and Website.

“It’s really just a tremendous compliment for our team,” said Eric Sasser, owner. “We are custom home builders here. We focus on what we need to do to make our customers happy, and this serves as a confirmation that we’re doing our job as we’re supposed to.”

Southern Living is a southern lifestyle and entertaining magazine and, based on its readership, the seventh largest monthly consumer magazine in the United States. It is distributed to 16 million readers each month and has a yearly circulation of 2.8 million.

Sasser Construction has been building custom homes in Hampton Roads for 24 years and was invited to become a Southern Living Custom Homebuilder, of which there are fewer than 100, in the early ’90s.

“We look for builders who can build a home using our quality partner products; a home that reflects a story you might see in the pages of Southern Living,” stated Brent Warren, Southern Living builder programs and services manager, stated in a press release. “Sasser’s Falkirk Ridge home is an excellent example of what we are looking for in this program; the epitome of Southern style and grace.”

The Falkirk Ridge Southern Living Showcase Home, built in The Riverfront at Harbour View, boasts over 5,000 square feet and features outdoor and indoor entertaining space.

“It’s certainly not the largest or fanciest home we’ve ever built,” said Sasser, who has also worked on homes such as a 15,000 square foot mansion. “It’s all in the details.”

For Sasser, providing good customer service — his priority — means getting all the details right.

“That’s the one constant in our businesses, whether we’re building castles or cottages,” Sasser said. “Wants and needs are so different. You learn who you’re building for and what it is they want.”
