A 16-year-old Turlington Woods Alternative School student found with a weapon on school property has been suspended with recommendation for expulsion, according to Bethanne Bradshaw, Suffolk Public Schools spokeswoman.

Police found the student in possession of a knife on Wednesday afternoon, according to Suffolk spokesperson Debbie George.

The pocketknife had a blade “in the excess of three inches,” she said.

The student did not display the knife or threaten anyone, according to George, who said another student knew about the knife and told school administrators, who notified the police.

A misdemeanor petition for possession of a weapon on school property was secured against the juvenile suspect on Thursday, said George, who would not identify the student because of his status as a minor.
