A 34-year-old Suffolk man is being held without bond at the Western Tidewater Regional Jail following his arrest Wednesday on charges that he was growing marijuana at his residence.

Adam Lee Meeks of the 4900 block of Marina Drive was being held on a probation violation and a felony charge of manufacturing narcotics that were not for personal use, according to a spokesperson at the jail.

Meeks was arrested Wednesday after a Neighborhood Enforcement Team from the North Suffolk Precinct of the Suffolk Police Department served a narcotics search warrant on a residence and trailer at his address, Suffolk spokesperson Debbie George said Thursday.

Members of the North Suffolk NET were assisted in the investigation by their counterparts from the Downtown precinct and by members of the department’s Special Investigations Division, she said.

Police found 17 marijuana plants in a shower area within the trailer, George said. Meeks was at the location and was placed under arrest there. The plants were collected and processed as evidence, she said.
