WINDSOR — Johnnie Byron Rhodes, 72, died March 28, 2010 at his daughter’s home, surrounded by his loving family. He was a lifelong resident of Isle of Wight County, the son of the late Johnnie Burgess Rhodes and Estelle Rhodes Coggin, and was predeceased by his sister, Christine Rhodes Cumbey.
A U. S. Air Force veteran, Johnnie was an honor graduate of Windsor High School and graduated magna cum laude from Paul D. Camp Community College. He was office manager for Rhodes Garage for 28 years, a longtime tax preparer, and a member of Colosse Baptist Church.
Survivors include his daughter, Rene Rhodes Boutin and her husband, Spencer A. Boutin; two grandchildren, Brandon Rhodes Boutin and Taylor Rene Boutin; and his two special pups, Shadow and Shiloh.
The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Wednesday, March 31, 2010 at Wright Funeral Home, Franklin, with the Rev. Tim Webb officiating. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 30, 2010 at the funeral home and suggests memorials be made to any animal welfare organization, including the Isle of Wight Humane Society, P.O.
