All lanes of Rt. 460 were reopened Saturday after being closed for a few days when a nearby dam broke.

City officials announced Saturday afternoon the Department of Public Works had successfully removed a 40-foot section of the dam Saturday morning, removing the threat of any future problems.

City engineers were able to coordinate with the dam’s owners to complete the work.

Suffolk had closed a portion of the heavily traveled highway due to concerns the onset of water from the dam had in someway weakened the highway.
