King’s Fork’s J.T. Wilson pitched a complete game and drove in two of KF’s three runs Tuesday afternoon as the Bulldogs upset Grassfield 3-2 at King’s Fork.

Grassfield (13-3, 10-3) entered the afternoon in a three-way tie atop the Southeastern District. The Grizzlies defeated the Bulldogs (4-11, 4-9) 11-0 in March.

Wilson allowed four hits and two walks. At the plate, Wilson’s single drove in two runs in the third inning to put KF up 3-0. Grassfield scored two in the fifth inning, but KF held on from there.

“He made them hit the pitches he wanted them to hit,” said KF head coach J.B. Varney.

“I reminded the guys we had beaten them last year and anyone in the district can be beaten on any day. This is probably our biggest win ever,” Varney said. This is KF’s sixth year of baseball.

Seniors Aaron Aranda and Nick Bowman played key roles, said Varney. The coach promised the two seniors a steak dinner for any win over the top Chesapeake schools this season.

“They collected once already and now I owe them another one,” Varney said.

“It was just the team concept yesterday. Each guy needed to do certain jobs and step up and do the best you can at that particular time. I’m real proud of them,” Varney said.
