Florence “Libby” S. Jones, 59, passed away May 6, 2010 at Sentara Obici Hospital with her loving family at her bedside. She was deeply loved by numerous family and friends.
Born in Suffolk, she was the daughter of the late Edwin and Martha Shackelford. She was a secretary for VDOT and retired after 28 years of service. Libby was a member of Great Fork Baptist Church and was a member of Friendship Sunday School Class.
Survivors include her loving husband, Linard T. Jones; aunt, Odell and James Everett; sister-in-law, Marilyn and Larry Evans; nieces, Amanda Stewart, Cynthia Cale and husband, Robbie, Vickie Bailey and husband, Eric; great-nieces and -nephews, Nicholas Stewart, Zachary Stewart, Tyra Bailey, Ethan Bailey, and Kasey Cale; and numerous cousins; and missed dearly by Libby’s beach friends and family, Pamalco.
A funeral service will be conducted Monday, May 10, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. in the R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home & Crematory, 509 W. Washington St., Suffolk, VA, 23434 by the Pastor Donald Jones with burial at Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 7-8:30 p.m. and other times the family will be at the home.
