AAA opens new Suffolk center

With several vehicles already awaiting attention in spotless service bays in the back of their new building, officials from AAA Tidewater cut the ribbon on their newest facility on Monday.

The new Suffolk Center, located at 3529 Bridge Road, will offer AAA members a whole range of travel and automotive services, including travel planning, home and automotive insurance, financial services and automotive maintenance and repair.

“We are very excited and proud of our new AAA Service Center in Suffolk,” AAA Tidewater President and CEO Carol H. Ormond said. The facility is the organization’s ninth travel center in Hampton Roads, and its fifth car care center, but only the second with all of the services combined under one roof.

More important to Suffolk residents and officials, however, is the fact that it is AAA’s first office within the city’s borders.

AAA Tidewater has about 325,000 members, approximately 15,000 of whom live within the Suffolk city limits, Ormond said. The Bridge Road location gets the organization closer to those Suffolk members and “allows us to serve the tri-city area,” she added.

“We look forward to growing and prospering as the city itself grows and prospers.”

Referring to the company’s longstanding relationship with the people of Tidewater, Mayor Linda Johnson called AAA “the traffic safety experts in Hampton Roads.”

Having AAA in Suffolk will be a boon to the association’s members here, she said.

“For years and years, we’ve had to go elsewhere [for AAA services],” Johnson said. “Now, it’s right around the corner.”
