A Suffolk woman accused of biting another woman’s finger and “barking” at her has been deemed incompetent to stand trial.

Lillian Blunt Beasley’s case was continued in Suffolk General District Court Monday morning after a psychologist evaluated her and found her unable to participate in the trial and to assist in mounting a defense, said prosecutor Susan Walton.

Beasley, 43, faced charges of malicious wounding, trespassing and using profane language after an incident in the 400 block of Smith Street about 7:20 p.m., according to city spokeswoman Debbie George. Police were called to a disturbance there, and learned there had been a fight between Beasley and the victim. The victim had put her hand out to block Beasley, and Beasley allegedly bit the pinkie finger of the victim’s right hand, nearly severing it.

The woman had been asked to leave the property earlier in the day, but later returned, George said. When officers arrived, police say, Beasley was throwing herself in the mud and “barking.”

Beasley will be placed in treatment until her mental state can be restored, Walton said. The case is set for re-evaluation in November.
