To the editor:

The Nansemond-Suffolk Volunteer Rescue Squad appreciates the efforts of the Suffolk News-Herald to make the public aware of the dire financial situation in which the organization finds itself.

The editorial published on May 26 (“Time for a talk, and some answers”) asked for several questions to be answered by the city, as well as our organization.

We are quite willing to respond to each and every question raised, and representatives of our organization are available to meet at anytime with News-Herald staff, city representatives, or any other group or individual that has questions on this issue. Our organization is an open book, our records are an open book and we strongly desire to answer any questions that might be asked of us.

We have received many calls of support during this difficult time, and I encourage any citizen that has feelings on this issue to please communicate them to your City Council member.

I ask you to do this if you support us — or even if you don’t. Council needs to know the feelings of its constituents.

Thanks to all of you who have expressed support. Please contact us if there is any information that we can provide.
