For the third year, the National Night Out duck race will take to the waves at Constant’s Wharf this week.

The National Night Out committee will be on hand at TGIF June 25 to hand out information on how citizens can be involved in the annual crime-fighting and community partnership event. While there, residents can dance to the sounds of “Slapwater” and get the chance to have a duck compete in the duck race.

“It’s just a wonderful time for the community to get together,” Suffolk National Night Out coordinator Diana Klink said. “The kids have a fantastic time.”

The grand prize package for the duck race winner is valued at more than $100, and includes a free one-year subscription to the Suffolk News-Herald. Those hoping to win the duck race should stop by the National Night Out display tent for their free ticket to participate in the race.

National Night Out, which brings communities together for events like parades, block parties, cookouts and more, is set for Aug. 3. Suffolk has won first place in its population category for the last two years in a row. For more information on the event, visit www.suffolknno.org.
