Suffolk police have charged two adults in Friday’s discovery of an alleged marijuana-growing operation in a home that doubles as a children’s daycare center.

Warrants for possession of marijuana were secured Tuesday for Michael R. Cabrera, 26, and Angie M. Cabrera, 25, both of the 1000 block of Snead Drive.

Officers answered a call Friday for a domestic disturbance in the 1000 block of Snead Drive, in the Hillpoint neighborhood, city spokeswoman Debbie George said. When police arrived, one of the homeowners allegedly showed the officers marijuana plants, saying he had grown them himself.

After securing a search warrant for the home, police said, they located hydroponic growing equipment in the master bedroom and closet, as well as $400 worth of marijuana.

“They also learned, in the course of their investigation, that a daycare was run out of the residence,” George said.

Two children, 9 months and 3 years old, who belong to the homeowners, were the only children at the scene when police were present, George said.

Child Protective Services has been notified of the case, George said.
