If you’ve ever needed a good excuse to get out on the dance floor and learn how to swing dance, here it is.

A Suffolk couple, Dave and Anna Friedrich, are hosting a swing night at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church on Saturday, from 7:30 to 10 p.m. to benefit the International Justice Mission. The cost is a recommended donation of $10 a person.

“It’s something fun we wanted to do to promote a great cause,” Dave Friedrich said. “IJM goes into countries and helps people, who are caught in things like human trafficking, slavery and human exploitation. They go and help bring immediate relief through the local justice system so people can find justice. When you read and hear about what they do, you just know you want to help.”

Established in 1997, International Justice Mission is a human rights agency that secures justice for victims of slavery, sexual exploitation and other forms of violent oppression.

IJM lawyers, investigators and aftercare professionals work with local governments to ensure victim rescue, to prosecute perpetrators and to strengthen the community and civic factors that promote functioning public justice systems.

Freidrich urges people who haven’t tried swing before to come out.

“For the first half hour we’ll be giving a basic lesson,” he said. “You can learn the few moves and be ready to go. It’s really very easy to pick up. A teenager could come out and pick it up.”

There is no dress code, but those who want to wear swing attire are welcome to.

“It always makes for a great night,” Friedrich said. “It’s a great mix of the younger and older generation.”
