Suffolk Parks and Recreation announced Wednesday its 2010 “Cinema in the Park” schedule, which features appearances by vampires, wild things and a wanna-be Santa Claus.

The film schedule begins Sept. 18. The parks open at 5:30 p.m. on showing dates, and all films will begin at 6 p.m. Popcorn and concessions will be available. A chair and jacket are recommended.

Sept. 18

Constant’s Wharf Park & Marina, 110 East Constance Road

The Twilight Saga: New Moon (PG-13)

After Bella recovers from the vampire attack that almost claimed her life, she looks to celebrate her birthday with Edward and his family. However, a minor accident during the festivities results in Bella’s blood being shed, a sight that proves too intense for the Cullens, who decide to leave the town of Forks, Wash. for Bella and Edward’s sake. Initially heartbroken, Bella finds a form of comfort in reckless living, as well as an even-closer friendship with Jacob Black. Danger awaits in different forms.

Where The Wild Things Are (PG)

An adaptation of Maurice Sendak’s classic children’s story, where Max, a disobedient little boy sent to bed without his supper, creates his own world – a forest inhabited by ferocious wild creatures that crown Max as their ruler. This event will feature an activity for children, including a costume contest.

Fred Claus (PG)

Fred Claus has lived his entire life in his brother’s very large shadow. Fred tried, but could hardly live up to the example set by Nicholas, who was just a perfect, well, saint. True to form, Nicholas (a.k.a. Santa Claus) grew up to be the model of giving, while Fred became the polar opposite: a fast-talking repo man who’s run out of luck and money. Eventually Fred’s bad behavior catches up with him and he is sent to jail. His only recourse is to turn to his brother. Over Mrs. Claus’ objections, Nicholas agrees to help his brother on one condition: that he come to the North Pole and earn the money he needs by working in Santa’s Toy Shop. The trouble is that Fred isn’t exactly elf material. With Christmas fast approaching, Fred could jeopardize the jolliest holiday of the year and ruin Christmas. This event will feature an activity for children.
