Agnew started her career with the News-Herald as a staff writer. Since then, according to Editor Res Spears, she has proved herself to be a vital member of the staff and a valuable resource for the newspaper.

“I’m extremely pleased that Tracy has accepted this new position,” Spears said. “Our newspaper is full of dedicated individuals with a commitment to publishing newspapers and magazines that are worthy of the community whose name they share. And there’s nobody on our staff who is more dedicated to her craft than Tracy. She’s been the linchpin of our newsroom for a long time, and I know she’ll be a great news editor.”

Agnew will continue many of her beat-reporting duties, including coverage of Suffolk city government.

“I am excited to be serving the community in my new position,” she said. “I’ve really enjoyed the time I’ve spent here in Suffolk.”
