Rosa L. Goodman, 86, of 1400 Sierra Drive, Suffolk passed away Thursday, September 23, 2010, at her residence. She was a native of Maxton, N.C. and the daughter of the late George Patterson and Mattie M. Mabry. She was also predeceased by her husband, Thomas Goodman; one daughter, Rosa Slaughter; and one son, James Simmons.

She was a member of New Paul’s Temple Holiness Church and a member of its Mother Board, Sunday School and former choir member.
She leaves to cherish her memory three daughters, Deloise Slaughter , Janie Gates and Alfleta Parker (Roy), all of Suffolk; six sons, George Frank Simmons (Wilma), LePolda Simmons, Randolph Simmons, Thomas Simmons, Linwood Simmons and Alvester Simmons, all of Suffolk; 40 grandchildren, 53 great grandchildren and 11 great-great grandchildren; one sister, Mae N. Moore of Suffolk; special friends, Pastor Catherine Skinner and Dr. Theresa Massenburg; a special devoted nurse, Brenda Bailey; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A funeral will be held on Tuesday, September 28, 2010, at 1 p.m. in New Paul’s Temple Holiness Church officiated by Pastor Catherine Skinner. Interment will be in Carver Memorial Cemetery.
