The spellbinding work of Edgar Allan Poe will captivate audiences in a play at the North Suffolk Library next month.

The Oct. 20 event heads up a number of Halloween events at the library, located at 2000 Bennett’s Creek Park Road.

Scott Craig Jones of the Traveling Jones Theater will present “Edgar Allan Poe Comes Alive,” a 70-minute play in which the Baltimore poet and short-story writer comes back to life to chat with the audience and present his well-known works.

The show includes performances of “The Tell-Tale Heart,” “The Raven,” “The Masque of the Red Death,” “The Conqueror Worm,” “Spirits of the Dead,” “Eldorado,” “Annabel Lee” and “A Dream Within a Dream.”

The event is not recommended for children younger than 7 years old because of its suspenseful and possibly scary content.

On Oct. 30, the library also will host “Pumpkin Palooza” at 10 a.m. Both children and adults are welcome for a fall celebration, including refreshments, storytime and a pumpkin carving contest. Carved pumpkins should be delivered between 9 and 10 a.m. Storytime will begin at 10:15 a.m., and winners will be announced at 11 a.m. Costumes are encouraged.
