The Suffolk Inner City Steeler dance team will compete in the Pop Warner 2010 National Cheer and Dance Championships next week in Orlando.

The competition, bringing more than 300 cheer and dance squads to Disney’s Wide World of Sports Complex, is Dec. 6-10. The Steelers will perform Thursday, Dec. 9. The Steelers are one of 10 midget (age 13-15) dance teams to make nationals.

The Steeler dance team is Kanisha Colbert, Alexis Arrington, Kawnejah Johnson, Alexis Norman, Kaleesha Baker, Jada Jones, Kashala Jones and Donisha Bailey.

The Steelers won the Southeastern Virginia Pop Warner championship and competed in regionals in Charlotte last Friday. The Suffolk Inner City Athletic Association is looking for donations for its dance and football programs. To make a donation or for more information, contact president Fred Greene at 237-1494.
