Megan Elaine Lilly and Vincent Jose Antezana, both of Suffolk, were married on Saturday, Aug. 7, 2010, at five o’clock in the afternoon at Bethlehem Christian Church in Suffolk, Va. The Rev. Stewart McCarter officiated the ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. M. Phillip Lilly, and the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas T. Brinkley Sr. and Mr. and Mrs. Marvin R. Lilly, all of Suffolk. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Hellard, of Gainesville, Ga., and Mr. and Mrs. Victor Antezana, of Corapeake, N.C. He is the grandson of Mrs. Clessa Allen and the late Mr. Maurice Allen, of Gainesville, and Mr. and Mrs. Jorge Antezana, of Corapeake.
Mr. Lilly escorted his daughter to the traditional Wedding March by Mendelssohn. The bride chose a cathedral length, strapless, tulle ball gown with hand-embellished beaded pearls and sequins. The gown was finished with a vintage lace medallion at the bustle. She wore a full veil trimmed in crystals. Megan carried a cascading bouquet featuring white calla lilies, hydrangeas, roses and green hypericum berries.
Vocal music, with piano accompaniment by Mrs. Wyndee Mathias, was provided by Mr. Scott Simpson as well as the bride’s father, Mr. Phil Lilly.
The bride’s attendants were her friends: maid of honor, Miss Katherine Parr; bridesmaids, Miss Danielle Benson, Miss Kendall Brown, Miss Savannah McCarter, Miss Brittany Outland; and junior bridesmaid, Miss Meredith Horne, cousin of the bride. The attendants wore strapless, full-length, latte colored gowns of satin. Miss Laura Cornette was the flower girl. She wore a full-length, white tulle, sleeveless dress to match the bride, and dropped white rose petals as she preceded the bride down the aisle. Mrs. Lisa Horne, aunt of the bride, was mistress of ceremonies. Mrs. Patricia Smith and Mrs. Linda Copeland, both aunts of the bride, tended to the programs and guest book.
Mr. Kyle Conner served as best man. Groomsmen included Mr. Matthew Lilly, brother of the bride, Mr. Micah Barnes, Mr. Andrew Layden, and Mr. Kyle Niles. Mr. Cameron Layton, cousin of the bride, served as usher. Master Zachary Copeland and Master Braxton Lewis were ringbearers.
Prior to the bridesmaids’ processional, the bride’s father sang “I Will Be Here” by Steven Curtis Chapman. Flowers surrounded the couple as they said their vows. A large altar arrangement further defined the space. After the opening prayer, Mr. Scott Simpson sang “Go There With You,” also by Steven Curtis Chapman. The couple lit the unity candle while Mr. Scott Simpson sang “When I Said I Do,” by Clint Black.
A dinner reception followed in Graham Hall. The tables in the reception hall carried out the colors of the wedding. Each table had a cylinder vase filled with orchids and other mixed flowers of the wedding. The linens and chairs were white and the chair sashes were latte and sandalwood. The couple’s first dance was to “Then” by Brad Paisley. Megan danced with her father to “Stealing Cinderella” by Chuck Wicks. D.J. Barry Hurdle provided music for the rest of the evening.
The evening before the wedding, the groom’s parents hosted the rehearsal dinner at Hilton Garden Inn in Suffolk.
Prior to the wedding, the couple was honored at several events hosted by Mrs. Lisa Horne, Mrs. Linda Copeland, Mrs. Vicki Brown, Mrs. Gina Violette and Mrs. Janice McCarter.
After a honeymoon in St. Thomas, Virgin Islands, the couple now resides in the Lake Prince area of Suffolk.
