Blaze: This fire in a Longstreet Lane home Thursday displaced two people. Firefighters are investigating the cause of the fire.

Two adults were displaced by a fire in their two-story home on Longstreet Lane Thursday night.

Suffolk Fire and Rescue and the Holland and Whaleyville Volunteer Fire departments responded to the scene of the fire, which was reported at 11 p.m. They spent most of the rest of the night battling the fire, according to Suffolk spokesperson Debbie George.

When firefighters arrived on the scene, the rear, single-story portion of the home was fully engulfed in flames, which then spread up the back wall and into the attic area.

The fire was brought under control by about 3:30 a.m., but the rear portion of the home was destroyed, George said in a press release on Friday. The remainder of the house sustained heavy smoke and heat damage.

There were no injuries related to the fire, which is under investigation by the Suffolk Fire Marshal’s office.
