Jerry Brian Hart

Jerry Brian Hart was born to Rufus and Mabel Hart on May 8, 1947 in Suffolk, Va. He was the third son born to that union. He was preceded in death by his older brother, Rufus Jr.

He pursued an undergraduate degree in physical education at North Carolina A&T University, where he met his wife of 39 years, DeAnna Nisbett Hart. While residing in New York, they became the proud parents of Jerry Brian II and Denyse Kaiia.

Jerry served 29 years with the United States Post Office.

Jerry leaves to sorrowfully mourn his passing his wife, DeAnna; his son, Jerry II (Tracy); daughter, Denyse; granddaughter, Malia Briann; brother, Ronald Hart (Ethel); sisters-in-law, Wendella Nisbett and Judith Nisbett; many cousins, nieces and nephews; and a host of family and friends.

Jerry’s passing leaves a painful void in the lives of his family and friends, but we acknowledge that we have been blessed for 63 years with a true example of what a husband, father and friend should be.

Mr. Hart will be on view Sunday, Jan. 23, from noon to 5 p.m. A wake service will be held from 5 to 6 p.m. at the funeral home. A service of remembrance will be held Monday, Jan. 24, at noon at Metropolitan Baptist Church. He will be laid to rest at Carver Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive visitors at 806 Seminole Drive.
