The Norfolk Tides are part of a team holding a region-wide food drive sponsored by the Foodbanks of Southeastern Virginia, the Virginia Peninsula and Albemarle.
People are encouraged to drop off nonperishable items at Harbor Park on Wednesday from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. The food drive will go to help feed the hungry across Hampton Roads and Northeastern North Carolina.
The event’s also being staged to honor Beverly Hill, who was recently selected by ABC’s Extreme Makeover: Home Edition to receive a new home.
The TV shot is currently in Virginia Beach building a new home for Hill, her husband Fred Burdette and their six adopted daughters. Hill has been a generous donator to the community for the last 15 years. The couple’s taken in more than 35 foster kids since 1992 and Hill works to feed and clothe homeless people in the community.
