Police seek robbery suspect

Suffolk Police are seeking a 42-year-old Suffolk man in connection with a convenience store robbery that occurred Thursday night.

Warrants are on file for Jessie Daniel Blount for armed robbery, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Police say the suspect entered the Southern Food Store in the 800 block of West Constance Road just after 10 p.m. Thursday night. He selected a bottle of Smirnoff alcohol and placed it on the counter. He then went behind the counter, displayed a handgun and demanded money from the clerk.

When she refused to open the register, he grabbed the bottle and fled the store, city spokeswoman Debbie George said.

Police initially sought and questioned a second subject about the crime. He was released after questioning and is no longer wanted in connection with the robbery.
