Thomas Roland Byrum, 77, of Zuni, Va., passed away on April 5, 2011. A native of Isle of Wight County, Va., he was the son of the late Percy Elton Byrum Sr. and Selma Joyner Byrum. He was also predeceased by a brother, Robert E. Byrum, and a grandchild, Chad N. Byrum. Thomas Roland was an U.S. Army veteran. He was a lifelong farmer and his family was awarded Farm Family of the Year. He was a member of Pine Grove Assembly of God, now known as Living Hope Community Fellowship, where he served as a former deacon and trustee.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Jones Byrum, of Zuni; daughters and sons-in-law, Brenda B. Edwards and Kenneth Glenn Edwards Sr., of Zuni; Diane B. and Charlie Quesinberry, of Zuni; Cecil Ray and Deborah Byrum, of Windsor; grandchildren, Kenny and Jesse Edwards, Steele Byrum and Ryan and Ashley Quesinberry; three great-grandchildren, Gareth, Aislinn and Josie; three brothers, Percy E. Byrum Jr., John Henry Byrum and Richard L. Byrum.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, April 8, 2011 at 2 p.m. at the Living Hope Community Fellowship, officiated by Pastor Kevin Payne and the Rev. Cecil Jones. Burial will follow at Central Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. Friends may join the family for visitation on Thursday night from 7 to 8 p.m. at Parr Funeral Home and Crematory, 3515 Robs Drive, Suffolk.
