Clinton Bruce Vann Sr., 87, of 816 Battery Ave., Suffolk, Va., died Monday, July 4, 2011, at his residence. He was a native of Nansemond County and the son of the late William and Rosa Vann. He was predeceased in death by his wife, Jessie Mae Vann.

He retired after 36 years at the Navy Yard (Naval Facilities Engineering Command).

He was survived by four daughters, Rosa White, of Suffolk, Brenda Lee Reid, of District Heights, Md., Vera Angela Jackson, of Locust Grove, Va., and Stephenie Smallwood, of New Britain, Conn.; three sons, Clinton Bruce Vann Jr., Roger Vann and Stephen Vann, all of New Britain, Conn.; one sister, Minerva Vann; 16 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, July 8, 2011, in the chapel of Crocker Funeral Home officiated by Brother Solomon Darden. Interment will be in Meadowbrook Memorial Cemetery.
