Team Evolve bounced in AAU nationals

Team Evolve’s 10th grade boys basketball team reached the championship bracket of the AAU Division I National Championship in Orlando with a pair of victories and a second-place finish in its pool on Tuesday.
Evolve fell in the round of 64 in the championship bracket on Wednesday, falling 62-51 to Gold Coast, an Ohio AAU squad, and lost 69-68 to GT Stars of Georgia in a consolation game Thursday afternoon at the Disney/ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex.
Team Evolve, coached by Suffolk native and Cradock High grad Lorenza Coltrane, qualified for the Div. I National Championship by finishing third in its Super Regional tourney.
Evolve won two tournament titles, finished second in another, optional AAU Super Regional event, and had a 36-5 overall record prior to the Orlando trip.
Lakeland’s Antonio Jefferson and nine King’s Fork Bulldogs, Seveante Williams, Trevon Williams, Akanni White, Bryton Taylor, Jacorey Smith, Donte Ralph, Rod Parrett, Justin Nichols and Daniel Herdon, are on Team Evolve.
