Floyd A. Thomas, 80, of 1119 Ashcroft Drive NE, Leland, N.C., died Thursday, Aug. 18, 2011, at New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington, N.C. He was a native of Suffolk and the son of the late James and Fannie Thomas. He was predeceased by his wife, Edith Thomas.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He owned Tommy’s Seafood and retired after 35 years.
He leaves to cherish his memory: four daughters, Connie Thomas Davis (Preston), Frances Anderson, Tykia Thomas and Mary Thomas; one brother, Robert Thomas; eight granddaughters, eight great-granddaughters, four great-grandsons, one great-great-granddaughter; a special friend and devoted caregiver when he lived in Baltimore, Md., Mary Powell; other relatives and friends.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, Aug. 26, 2011, at New Mt. Joy Food For Living Ministries officiated by Elder Thomas Wiggins Jr. Interment will be in Langston Family Cemetery, Whaleyville, Va. The family will receive friends at 315 Peachwood Court, Suffolk.
