SUFFOLK — Ralph M. Cargill, 65, of Suffolk, passed away Aug. 25, 2011, in Bon Secours Maryview Medical Center. He was a native of Southampton County and son of the late John R. and Julia M. Cargill.

He was educated in the Suffolk Public Schools and was a graduate of Norfolk State University. He was a musician and served as organist and choir director for 31 years at Union Bethel A.M.E. Church and had been organist for Christian Home Baptist Church, Bethany Christian Church and Mt. Sinai Baptist Church.

He leaves to cherish his memory, one brother, Alphonsa Cargill; two sisters-in-law, Rita Cargill and Stephanie Cargill; three aunts, Lois Hamlin, Dorothy Hawkins and Eloise Cuffee; three uncles, Lonnie Cargill, Bernard Hawkins and James E. Turner; nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

A homegoing service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 1, 2011, in the chapel of Crocker Funeral Home officiated by the Rev. Wendell Waller. Interment will be in Christian Home Church Cemetery.
