Bulldogs return favor vs. Indian River

King’s Fork 19, Indian River 16
King’s Fork rallied from a 16-0 deficit entering the fourth quarter at Indian River for a 19-16 win over the Braves Friday night in Chesapeake.
Last season, Indian River scored three touchdowns in the last seven minutes to overcome a 13-0 Bulldogs lead.
This time, sophomore quarterback Uriah Adams and junior slot back Noah Johnson hooked up for a 60-yard touchdown reception for the go-ahead points with 0:35 left.
KF’s Charles Clark ran for a 15-yard touchdown with 2:30 to play to cut the Brave lead to 16-12.
The Bulldogs (1-1, 1-0) will host city rival Nansemond River Friday at 7 p.m.
Grassfield 16, Nansemond River 13
Nansemond River senior LaMont Brown carried 40 times for 229 yards and both Warrior touchdowns in a comeback effort that fell just shy at Grassfield. Grassfield led 16-0 in the fourth quarter.
The Grizzly offense scored a touchdown with the first time it had the ball. Following that drive, the rest of the Grizzly points came on an interception returned for a touchdown and a safety. NR’s defense allowed 95 total yards.
Grassfield, a regional playoff team last season, beat the Warriors 37-0 last fall. The Warriors (1-1, 0-1) go to King’s Fork on Friday.
Christchurch 33, Nansemond-Suffolk 0
The Seahorses pulled away from a 7-0 halftime lead to spoil the first home game for the Saints under new head coach Lew Johnston.
Christchurch’s Jordan Wallace rushed for 150 yards and a touchdown.
NSA’s Jackson DeMello was 3-for-4 passing for 51 yards. Ryan McClain caught five passed for 54 yards.
NSA (0-2) opens Tidewater Conference play by hosting Norfolk Christian on Friday.
