Front gates open and afternoon practice begins at 2 p.m. Time trials get under way at 4:30. Pre-race ceremonies commence at 6:55 and the Bandoleros go green shortly after 7.

As expected, NASCAR has confirmed Philip Morris’ fourth national championship in its Whelen All-American Series. Morris topped 2010 champ Keith Rocco by 11 points. Lee Pulliam was third, while C.E. Falk survived a late charge from Californian Brandon Davis to take fourth.

Falk’s fourth-place result is another improvement for Langley’s Late Model top gun. He was seventh in the national rankings in 2009 and fifth last season.

The Edwards brothers were Langley’s other representatives in the national top 100. Greg Edwards was 30th, while Danny Edwards Jr. was 92nd.

In the final Virginia state rundown, Morris, Pulliam and Falk bagged the top three spots.

Falk enters Saturday’s 100-lapper with a 38-point lead over Greg Edwards in the Langley Late Model standings. He can clinch the 2011 championship by finishing 20th or better.

The Late Model division is the only one holding its season finale Saturday night. Seven classes have races lined up for next Saturday, Oct. 1.

In the Grand Stock class, which has been idle since July 30, Ricky Derrick enjoys a 20-point advantage over Mark Claar. Rodney Boyd trails Claar by only two.

Five-time race winner Ritchie German holds a 38-point lead over Ryan Nester in the Super Street title chase. Jamie Sample, Sean Calway and John Pereira round out the top five.

In the INEX Legends division, Brad Hancock leads Steve Keesee by 22. Spencer Saunders is third, just four behind Keesee, while Joe Hendricks Jr. and Chris Raiford are fourth and fifth, respectively.

Heading into Saturday’s 15-lapper, Macy Causey leads the INEX Bandoleros standings by 14 over Darrell Adkins.

After seven races, the HRKC Pro Winged Champ Karts have yet to produce a repeat winner. Chris O’Brien holds a four-point lead over Tommy Sweeney in the standings with Daniel and David Millard just behind.

Sidelined since mid-July due to foul weather, the Enduros will swing back into action on Saturday as Mike Ganoe and Danny Harrell resume their championship duel. Ganoe, a three-time winner this year, leads Harrell by just two points.
