WINDSOR — Ralph Frederick Stine, 81, loving husband and father, passed away on Nov. 1, 2011. Born in Los Angeles, Calif., he was the son of the late Verona Rosita and Walter Harvey Stine. Mr. Stine was predeceased by his loving wife, Juanita Blair Stine.
He was a retired Navy Chief Petty Officer and a veteran of the Vietnam War. Mr. Stine was filled with entrepreneurial spirit, having owned and operated several businesses, but none more passionately than the Attic Trunk Antiques that he ran with his wife Juanita for 14 years. Although a stepfather to his wife’s children, he filled the role as a loving father.
Survivors include Sandra King and husband, Norman, of East Palatka, Fla., Juanita Pearl Thornton and husband, Tim, of Shawsville, Va.; sons, Alfred Winship McLaughlin Jr. and wife, Hazel, of Jacksonville, Fla., Andrew Preston McLaughlin and wife, Lisa, of Windsor, Va.; 14 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. Mr. Stine is also survived by two children from a previous marriage, daughter, Debbie Butherus and husband, Billy, and their children Ryan and Chad, of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho; and son, Michael Stine of Clarkston, Idaho.
A graveside service will be conducted on Friday, Nov. 4, 2011, at 10 a.m. at Holly Lawn Cemetery by the Rev. Michael D. Halley. The family will receive friends in the R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home and Crematory, 509 W. Washington St., Suffolk, Va., on Thursday, Nov. 3, 2011, from 7 to 8 p.m. Condolences may be registered at www.rwbakerfh.com.
