After starting out the football season with four straight losses, five straight wins have put Nansemond-Suffolk one spot away from a postseason spot in the Virginia Independent Schools power ratings with one week left to play in the regular season.
The top three squads in Division II, Christchurch, Potomac and Bishop Sullivan, have clinched playoff berths. Blue Ridge and NSA are on the bubble for the fourth and final spot.
The Barons host St. Anne’s-Belfield Friday afternoon in Dike. The Saints (5-4, 2-2) finish their regular season and Tidewater Conference slate, looking to earn a winning record in each, Friday evening against visiting Hampton Roads.
The Saints won 42-28 at Trinity Episcopal on Saturday. NSA, in its first season under head coach Lew Johnston, has outscored opponents by an average margin of 25.8 points in its five victories.
