Sarah Ward Carver, 83, of Jacksonville, Fla., died on Monday, Nov. 21, 2011. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Nov. 26, at 2 p.m. at Southside Baptist Church with the Rev. Gary Webber officiating.
A native of Suffolk, Va., she was born June 4, 1928, daughter of the late Timothy E. Ward Sr. and Beulah Carter Ward. Mrs. Carver had resided in Jacksonville since 1960 and was a retired secretary with the Duval County School System and active member of Southside Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bascom Y. Carver Jr. and is survived by a daughter, Laura Mauldin (Austin), of Charlotte, N.C.; two sons, Ward Carver (Sylvia), of Clarksville, Tenn., and Mark Carver, of St. Augustine, Fla.; a brother, Gordon Ward (Dot), of Bossier City, La., and six grandchildren, Sarah, Whitney, Nathan, Warren, Vance and Morgan.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Malcolm B. Knight Scholarship Fund, Southside Baptist Church, 1435 Atlantic Blvd., Jacksonville, FL 32207.
George H. Hewell and Son Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
