Suffolk police are seeking a suspect in a stabbing that occurred Saturday evening.
Officers were summoned to Sentara Obici Hospital, because a patient there reported he had been stabbed in the 800 block of Second Avenue, city spokeswoman Debbie George said.
The 43-year-old victim said he had been hanging out with some friends in the yard when he began to talk to a woman, George said.
“The victim and a subject began to argue over the way someone was speaking to the young lady,” George said. That’s when the suspect pulled out a knife and stabbed the victim, who suffered wounds to his arm and stomach but managed to fight off the suspect with his cane. He was treated and released at Obici for the wounds.
George said the victim knew of the suspect but was not able to provide enough information for officers to secure warrants.
Anyone who has information about the stabbing is asked to call Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP. Callers to Crime Line never have to give their names or appear in court, and may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.
