Albert M. Ruffin, 71, of 525 W. 151st St., New York, N.Y., died Sunday, Dec. 4, 2011, in Manhattan, N.Y. He was a native of Nansemond County and the son of the late Joe and Lessie Mae Ruffin.

He attended East Suffolk High School and was a Baptist.

He was survived by a daughter, Cathey Jackson (Edward), of Richmond, Va.; two sons, William Riley (Sonya), of Raleigh, N.C., and Morgan Ruffin, of New York; four sisters, Mary Worrell, Joyce Ruffin, Linda Brown and the Rev. Cynthia Green, all of Suffolk; two brothers, Joseph Ruffin (Pauline) of Bronx, N.Y. and Vann Ruffin (Vanessa), of Suffolk; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild; special aunts, Delores Cockrell (James) and Garrye Harcum, of New York City; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A funeral service will be held at noon, Saturday, Dec. 10, 2011, at Oak Grove Baptist Church officiated by the Rev. Travis Copeland. Interment will be in Carver Memorial Cemetery. The body will be placed in the church at 10:30 a.m. The family will receive friends at 2203 Vermont Ave., Suffolk. Crocker Funeral Home, Inc. is handling the arrangements.
