Bulldogs finish 9th in wrestling tourney

King’s Fork finished ninth out of 18 “A” wrestling squads in the Craney Island Holiday Tournament held at Churchland High School Friday and Saturday.

King’s Fork’s Ethan Banks went 5-1 and won third place in the 220-pound division as the Bulldogs finished ninth overall in the Craney Island Holiday Invitational wrestling tournament at Churchland Friday and Saturday. The Bulldogs travel to W.T. Woodson in Fairfax to compete in the Cavalier Classic on Dec. 28.

Granby won the team title edging Princess Anne.

Individually, the Bulldogs were led by three third-place finishers.

At 138 pounds, Austin Wall took third, beating McKinnis Spadoni of Princess Anne by a 12-2 major decision in the third-place match.

Matt Hommell took third at 170 pounds. Hommell pinned McLean’s Bryson Davis at the 2:54 mark of the third-place match.

Ethan Banks was third-place in 220 pounds. Banks pinned Dsean Lee of Kecoughtan four seconds into the second period of his last match.
