One person died Tuesday in a four-vehicle accident on Route 460 in Windsor.
Grace J. Clay, 75, of Ivor died in the 4 p.m. crash.
She is believed to have suffered a medical problem before losing control of her car and veering into oncoming traffic on Route 460 in front of the Windsor Fire Department, Windsor police said. Clay’s compact car hit a pickup truck before spinning into a tractor trailer and hitting it head-on. A fourth vehicle was also involved in the accident.
The driver of the pickup, whom police did not identify, told police he saw Clay slumped over while behind the wheel, and it appeared she was unconscious before her car ran into his truck, Police Chief Vic Reynolds said. Clay was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the tractor-trailer, identified only as Gerard Carter, was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. No one else was seriously injured.
Reynolds said it was unclear if the fatality was a result of the accident or the medical emergency. A medical examiner will release the cause of death.
