A weak fourth quarter contributed to a losing effort by the Nansemond River Warriors against L.C. Bird High School in the Virginia Preps Classic boys basketball exhibition at Green Run High School in Virginia Beach on Saturday.

Bird was ranked sixth in the state going into the game and finished as the AAA state runners-up in 2011.

Nansemond River led at the end of each of the first three quarters, posting a 51-46 score at the end of the third. But Bird turned up the heat in the fourth, scoring 23 points to NR’s 13 for a 69-64 win.
