Naomi S. Biggs, 88, of 707 Adams St., Suffolk, Va., died Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2012, at her residence. She was a native of Suffolk and the daughter of the late William Henry Sills and Queen Morton Sills. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter T. Biggs.
She was a graduate of Booker T. Washington High School. She attended South Carolina State and received her Bachelor of Science degree from Norfolk State University. She retired as director from Metropolitan Baptist Church Day Care Center. She was a member of Metropolitan Baptist Church where she was a former superintendent and assistant superintendent of Sunday school, Sunday school teacher for the women’s Bible class, a member of the church Chapel Choir, member of the Tuesday Senior Bible Study class at East End Baptist Church. She was a member of the Lott Carey Baptist Missions Convention and the Sharon Missionary Association.
She leaves to cherish her memory: two daughters: Olivia Lang (Rev. William), of Suffolk, and Dora Pearson, of Portsmouth, Va.; three sons, William E. Biggs (Vanessa), of Bowie, Md., Dwight Stanford (Adella), of Chesapeake, Va., and Charles Phillips (Carolyn), of Suffolk; one sister, Alberta Adams (James), of New York, N.Y.; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Adelaide Montgomery; several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A funeral service will be held at noon, Monday, Feb. 13, 2012, at Metropolitan Baptist Church officiated by the Rev. Dr. Robert Hobbs. Interment will be in Carver Memorial Cemetery. The family will assemble at Crocker Funeral Home on Monday at 11:15 a.m. for the procession to the church. Condolences may be extended to the family at www.crockerfuneralhome.com.
