Suffolk police are investigating a fatal vehicle accident.

City spokeswoman Debbie George said the single-vehicle accident occurred about 5:30 p.m. at Route 164 and Bridge Road. The vehicle ran off the road and struck a pole, she said.

The driver died at the hospital.
