Dorothy B. Turner, 67, of 100 Dover Court, Suffolk, died Friday, Feb. 17, 2012, at Sentara Obici Hospital. She was a native of Nansemond County and the daughter of the late J.C. Copeland and Catherine Bright. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Turner, and brother, Bobby C. Bright.
She retired from Red Apple Restaurant as a cook.
She leaves to cherish her memory two sisters, Marie B. McCrea (James), of Suffolk, and Mary E. Artis (Walter), of Carrollton, Va.; one aunt, Deloise Griffin; a special niece, Natalie Kilger; a devoted nurse, Debra Turner; other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 23, 2012, at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, officiated by Brother James Watson. Entombment will be in Carver Memorial Cemetery. The family is receiving friends at the homes of Mary E. Artis (Walter), 507 Shoreline Road, Carrollton, Va., and Marie B. McCrea (James), 520 Ashley Ave., Suffolk. The family will assemble at Crocker Funeral Home on Thursday at 12:15 p.m. for the processional to the church. Crocker Funeral Home Inc. is handling the arrangements.
