NORFOLK — Sylvia Jean Andrews Jones, 57, a native of Suffolk, Va., passed away March 7, 2012. She was predeceased by a sister, Annie Green, and a brother, Leroy Andrews Jr.

Sylvia was baptized at First Baptist Church Pleasant Hill, Suffolk, Va. She became a member of East End Baptist Church, Suffolk, Va. Years later, she attended Bank Street Baptist Church, Norfolk, Va.

She was a 1972 graduate of John F. Kennedy High School and a 1976 graduate of Norfolk State University. She retired from the Norfolk Naval Supply Center.

Sylvia is survived by her daughter, Monica A. Jones; grandsons, Kyrei and Khalil Vann; parents, Leroy and Essie Andrews; brother, Paul G. Andrews (Cynthia); sister, Karen A. Thompson (Steven); aunts, Janet Parker and Deloris Little; uncle, James Andrews; ex-husband, Harry Jones; several relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m., Friday, March 16, at Metropolitan Funeral Home, 120 W. Berkeley Ave., Norfolk, Va. A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 17, at the funeral home.
