One dead, five injured in Route 58 crash

A 16-year-old was killed in this single-vehicle accident on Holland Road Tuesday morning.

One person died and five were injured in a single-vehicle accident in the 3200 block of Holland Road Tuesday morning.

The 16-year-old passenger who died has been identified as James Patrick Normile V, of Virginia Beach.

Two adults and four juveniles were in the vehicle when it crashed at about 6:15 a.m., according to Suffolk spokeswoman Debbie George. Two of the victims were transported by Nightingale to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital and three victims were transported to Sentara Obici Hospital.

According to George, the accident occurred when the Toyota Sequoia was headed eastbound on Route 58. The vehicle ran off the road to the left into the median, struck a culvert and rolled onto its side.

An adult female and 4-year-old child were ejected from the vehicle. Three people were entrapped inside the vehicle, while the male driver was able to get out.

Normile died at the scene.

All lanes of traffic were opened around 2:15 p.m.
