Bennett’s Creek Crossing Farm Fresh manager Scott Shipley, center, celebrates winning an internal company award, with some of his workers Tuesday.

The manager of Bennett’s Creek Crossing shopping center Farm Fresh says a sterling team effort helped the North Suffolk store win a major company award.

The Farm Fresh in North Suffolk was named best of 44 Farm Fresh stores during a recent awards dinner, Scott Shipley said.

“It’s definitely a team effort,” Shipley said. “Store of the Year — I was excited, I was really happy.”

The award was faced on customer feedback. Customers completed a short survey at the bottom of their receipt, Shipley said.

“(It) gave us a rating of one to 10 on the experience they receive in the store,” he explained. The survey included “all kinds of different questions as far as the service and their shopping experience.”

The Bennett’s Creek store exceeded company goals for both customer service and sales, Shipley said.

“Without going into any details, financial results are a big part of that,” he said.

Farm Fresh Food and Pharmacy, the stores’ actual name, was founded in 1957, according to the company website.

The 44 Farm Fresh stores are in Hampton Roads, Franklin, Richmond, and Elizabeth City in North Carolina.

On Tuesday, Shipley began getting his 92 staff members to sign with a magic marker a large banner proclaiming the award.

The banner has been on prominent display in the store, reminding customers of the achievement.

“To win something like that is just terrific,” Shipley said.

He expects trade — along with customer satisfaction — to continue to increase.

“As the area grows, we are definitely seeing more customers,” he said. “We just want to make sure that they’re happy and that they come back.”
